Helen is a lifelong Yuba-Sutter resident. She considers herself very much an “animal” person always bringing home neighborhood strays as a child and continues to do so as an adult! Helen never knew a time that she didn’t have animals in her life. A Professional Realtor by trade with Century 21 and a Certified Vet Assistant.

Helen enjoys spending her spare time working outside on her Browns Valley Farm with her husband, family time with her kids and grandkids and volunteering at the Sutter Animal Services Authority assisting with the medical needs of shelter animals.

I retired in 2000 after teaching business for 35 wonderful years. A local nonprofit immediately contacted me to help with their financial records. From there I set up about a half dozen nonprofits. I currently am treasurer of 3- 501[C]’s and financial advisers for a half dozen others. My observation is these are the greatest people to work with.

In 2013, I retired from my role as Director of Investigations with a major drug company.  My time is now spent enjoying retirement, volunteering with a local non-profit group (Bridges to Housing) in finding affordable housing for the homeless and low-income families, but most importantly, spending quality time with my wife and our two grandchildren.

Having the opportunity to be a board member of SASA is a unique opportunity for me to share my love and passion for animals. My wife and I are fortunate to have 4 loving dogs that enrich our lives on a daily basis.
